 Ittle Dew 2+ Introduction:

Ittle Dew 2, an action-adventure game created by the Swedish indie studio Ludosity and initially published by Nicalis, serves as the sequel to the 2013 title, Ittle Dew. This game saw its release on November 15, 2016, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Later, an updated version named Ittle Dew 2+ hit the Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2017, with the updated content eventually reaching the Windows version on May 26, 2019. It's worth noting that the Nintendo Switch was the only platform to receive a physical release of the game.


However, on September 20, 2019, Nicalis decided to remove the game from all digital console platforms due to a strained relationship with the developer. Fortunately, the Steam release remained accessible as it was self-published. Subsequently, on March 19, 2020, the game made a comeback on the Nintendo Switch eShop, this time with Ludosity taking on the role of self-publisher.

Gameplay:


In Ittle Dew 2, players follow the adventures of the main character, Ittle, and her lively companion, Tippsie, as they find themselves marooned on an unfamiliar island following their raft's destruction. Their mission? To retrieve the raft's broken pieces, repair it, and make their escape.

The game adopts an overhead perspective, reminiscent of other action-adventure titles like The Legend of Zelda. Players navigate a sprawling overworld that grants access to smaller, isolated areas known as dungeons, where the bulk of the gameplay unfolds. Inside these dungeons, players combat foes and tackle puzzles to advance, ultimately defeating a dungeon boss to secure a Raft Piece. There are a total of eight Raft Pieces, and while a recommended sequence exists, players have the freedom to complete them in any order. In addition to the main dungeons, there are caves containing standalone puzzles or combat challenges, offering collectibles or upgrades as rewards.

Much like the first game, players discover items in dungeons that aid in combat and puzzle-solving, some of which are vital for progress. However, due to the game's open nature, dungeons are designed to be conquerable with only the item found within and the initial weapon. Similarly, every cave can be cleared without requiring dungeon items or upgrades. Each dungeon item can be found more than once, and encountering duplicates upgrades the player's existing item.

Beyond dungeon items, players can uncover crayon boxes to permanently increase their maximum HP, collectible cards, and cosmetic outfits for the player character.

Metacritic, a review aggregator, assigned Ittle Dew 2 a score of 75 out of 100 for the PlayStation 4 and 72 out of 100 for the Xbox One.

According to Hardcore Gamer, the game earned a rating of 3.5 out of 5. The author, Jeremy Peeples, noted that Ittle Dew 2 "isn't perfect but smooths out some of the rough edges of its predecessor."
